Carpe Noctem
The sail plan prioritizes ease of handling while maintaining competitive upwind performance. With 2,327 sq. ft. of total sail area, and a sail area to displacement ration of 17.83, the Carpe Noctem is fit for ocean crossings. In light winds you’ll enjoy steady progress onwards, and in stronger winds you’ll enjoy pulling in the sheet and racing around the buoys. In the event of foul weather, have no fear of losing your rig! the standing rigging is made of Nitronic rod with three aft-swept spreaders and twin aft stays. This rig is designed like a toyota corolla; reliable as hell.
The Dellenbaugh Coefficient of 10 degrees ensures the Carpe Noctem is a comfortable ride. Not as stiff as a racer, and not so tender you’ll put the rail down in mooring. In terms of stability, the Carpe Noctem performs admirably. The angle of vanishing stability is at 65 degrees with positive stability until 115 degrees, keeping you and whoever you choose to bring along safe and sound. Short on Crew? Not a problem, all the winches and controls you’ll need are located in the cockpit making light work of the larg sail area. The simple layout of the helm stations is ideal for family outings, casual weekend adventures, and even the occasional race. They say there isn’t one but for everyone, but the Carpe Noctem may be the perfect boat for you!
The large semi-enclosed cockpit is perfect for hosting cocktail parties, lunch with the family, and especially sailing through foul weather. The dual helm station helps with visibility while sailing through crowded waterways. Enjoy a nice afternoon on the sundeck, and retreat to the lavish interior for drinks in the lounge. For accomodations, the Carpe Noctem is equipped with an Owner’s Cabin forward, and two guest cabins aft. Each guest cabin is outfitted with queen size beds. The owner’s can rest easy in their king size bed. Each cabin has a private head, desk, and closet space. Amidship you’ll find ample space for dining, lounging, and cooking.
Aft of the guest cabins you’ll find the engine room. Outfitted with a John Deere PowerTech engine producing 230 hp, you’ll enjoy motoring along at a cruising speed of 8.5 knots. For those in a rush, an estimated top speed of nearly 11 knots is nothing to snuff at. Motoring, you’ll have a range of 300 nautical miles.
